Reverend Jonathan Fleming of St John's Church is looking forward to the special tribute.
He said: "We are planning on doing a poppy waterfall down St John's. We are hoping that all the community will get involved and it will be something very special indeed.
"There will be a cascade of poppies and we will attach them to a cargo net and we will hire a cherry picker to erect it and let it fall down on the frontage.
"We are planning to leave it up for the rest of November and onwards towards Christmas.
"We thought given it was such an important centenary to mark the end of the First World War that we thought we should do something important - and I am sure it will be something very memorable and fitting for the town."
Knitted and crocheted poppies will form part of an art display will adorn the front of the church.
