The Fairlie Gala is taking place on Saturday and Sunday this weekend and has a Wild West v Pirates theme.

There will be plenty of Wyatt Earps and Jack Sparrow Saturday kicks off one hour after High Noon, at 1pm, and there is the usual mix of vintage tea tent, beer tent with real ale, music, kids entertainment, The MacDougalls, inflatables etc.

The planned 70/80/90s disco for the village hall on Saturday night has been cancelled, but the Gala will continue to run at the park until later on in the evening, as in previous years.

On Sunday the Gala are having a mini olympics with games and activities for all the youngsters as well as a 5-a-side competition.

The beer tent will also open again until 6pm.

* Gala Parties - This year’s Gala Parties for Fairlie youngsters will be held in the Village Hall this Friday. There’ll be a Fancy Dress for 4-8 year olds, with party games and dances, and a prize for the best costume (on the Gala theme of Wild West v. Pirates). This will be followed by a Murder Mystery Party for 9-16 year olds, with fun and games, and a prize for the person who unmasks Blackbeard’s killer!
