It is time to put the new year diet to good use and getting those training shoes on in preparation for the Kaim Hill race in Fairlie.
The event, which is organised by North Ayrshire Athletics Club, takes place on 18 April at 7pm, and has been running, so to speak, for many years.
Please arrive early to collect your number, to allow sufficient time to get to the start of the race.
The start and finish of the race takes place from Castlepark Drive only a few minutes walk from the primary school grounds.
Registration takes place within Fairlie Primary School, and will open at 6pm on the day of the race. Changing and toilets are available at registration.
The race starts with a short section of level tarmac, before heading up a scenic narrow winding trail. At the top of the trail there is a tricky burn crossing, before a climb up a steep bank gains you access to the open hillside, covered with rough heather and tussocks.
The summit of the hill is set back a further than you'd expect, and once round the trig point you return the same way. The race is approx. 5.5km with a climb of approx 380m.
Limited parking is available within the grounds of the primary school.
And a date for your diary - North Ayrshire Athletics Club host their hugely successful 'Race the Prom 10K' on Sunday 3 September at 11am.
The flat, fast course will be exactly the same as last year, including the newly improved prom at the Saltcoats sea-front.
There will also be a 3k fun run for the kids and any adults who want to join them.
The popular athletics club bar will be back this year for end of run celebration and relaxation.
Entries are now open through Entry Central (www.entrycentral.com).  Goodie bag including t-shirt for all finishers.
John Stewart, club spokesman said: "We really look forward to seeing you at one of the best sporting events in North Ayrshire – what a great incentive to get yourself to peak fitness over the summer!"
The best young athletes headed up to Glasgow recently for match 2 of the Scottish Athletics Indoor league match.
There were some fantastic performances across the age groups with some massive personal best performances.  With nearly 60 athletes competing and performing well the future certainly looks bright for athletics in North Ayrshire and the early signs are that this could be a record breaking year for the club during the outdoor season.
Harris McNicol competing for just his second time for the club ran a perfect 600m winning his heat in a time of just over 2 mins. His team mates Daniel McInally and Alistair Street also ran great races. Sticking with the circular track, the under 13,15 and 17 girls all managed some excellent PB’s in the 800m with Claire McLaughlan, Megan Pettigrew and Carla Murray all gaining new lifetime bests.
John Stewart added: "The progression of the club over the last few years has been nothing short of phenomenal."
