The Firth of Clyde Coastal Rowing club have launched a busy regatta season with our first port of call being at Anstruther on Saturday.

A bit further afield is a trip to Woudrichem in the Netherlands 26 to 29 May to compete in the 1stever Dutch international St Ayles skiff regatta, Rowers and skiffs from various regions in Scotland ,England and Ireland and possibly from more distant shores are currently training to claim the honours in the varying categories. We even got the chance to encounter Dutch navy frigate HNLMS Tromp taking part in the recent Joint Warrior exercise around our waters.

Last season the club operating out of Largs Yacht Haven, featured in the Elaine C Smith Burdz Eye View television series with Elaine thoroughly enjoying her first go at rowing at sea ,claimed a good array of medals around the coastline, with our junior team scoring second place in The World Skiffie Championships at Strangford Lough in Ireland.

For the uninitiated St Ayles skiff rowing is one of the fastest developing water related activities , clubs in coastal communities around the country build and row there skiffs ,the membership costs make this extremely accessible to all ages and genders, Rowing sessions can be leisurely trips to enjoy the magnificent Scottish coastline followed by some banter in Largs Sailing club over coffee or strenuous race training.
