It is the end of an era at Inverclyde Sports Centre for John Kent who has retired after 37 years as principal.
The local man was heavily involved in overseeing the transition from the old Centre to the modern state of art equivalent which opened in April.
A keen sailor, John has also been principal of Cumbrae Watersports Centre.
John also met The Queen and toured her Royal Majesty and Prince Philip around the Sports Centre during its 50th anniversary in 2008, and more recently showed Prince Edward around the new look building, see picture.
