Fairlie is once again bereft of a watering hole as the Village Inn has closed its doors.
Re-branded as The Village Bar and Grill when it re-opened in March, the traditional Bay Street premises held an opening night including live music and free food after it had been closed since November.
The premises were shut on the weekend on September 15-17, and have not re-opened since.
Owner John Corrigan said: "Unfortunately it is closed at the present time. We are in discussion with the tenants as to what is happening next. We are giving it our full attention; we are disappointed it has closed, and we will do our best to get it re-opened."
Originally known as The Village Inn and Mudhook, it was run by Punch Taverns for several years in the early 2000s, but was closed for a period of nearly three years, before it was purchased by Mr Corrigan in 2009.
The Village Inn has won Craft Beer awards over recent years from CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) and also hosted real ale festivals, and even once staged the Fairlie Gala Festival under the ownership of Audrey Dreghorn. The bar also has a number of Fife boatyard connections, including a sign recognising the historic links on the front of the premises.
