With this year’s Fairlie Gala fast approaching the committee is urging villagers to get involved by attending the annual general meeting, writes Julie McLaughlin.

The meeting will be held on Sunday March 18 at 2pm in Fairlie Community Garden, with the committee interested in gaining new members.

They are involved in a number of activities including the organising of the annual Gala weekend as well as the Village Fireworks and other events in the village.

The committee was also instrumental in funding the 5 aside pitch in the park and is always on the look out to build, or assist in, other activities within the village.

Fairlie resident and committee member Councillor Alan Hill said: "I would urge anyone interested in getting involved in our committee to come along to the meeting.

"This is a great opportunity to help out in village life and to join an active group which delivers events, but which also has fun at the same time.

"We do not work in the usual formal way, but we get things done. New ideas and suggestions are always welcome, and we are always keen to look at new proposals that will improve the social life of everyone in our village.

"So, come along on the 18th and bring the kids. There will be refreshments and snacks available too. We very much hope to see some new blood and would welcome some new committee members."
