A POPULAR pub which has been closed for the last six months is to get a new lease of life after it was taken over by new tenants.
The Village Inn bar and restaurant in Fairlie, which has been closed since September, has been taken over by a family with substantial experience in the pub trade.
They describe the bar as a 'perfect' fit for them.
Brian Flannigan and Debbie Johnstone are in the process of giving the Bay Street premises a refurbishment, and want to take it back to its traditional roots.
Debbie, who is originally from Stranraer, and Brian, who hails from Coatbridge, have 40 years of experience between them in the hospitality industry including at Wetherspoon and Belhaven bars.

Debbie said: "We have lived all over but now we are in Fairlie with our kids Molly and Áine and our dog.
"We want to bring the Village Inn back into the heart of the community.
"Everyone we have met has been very nice and it has created a lot of excitement."
The Village Inn is owned by Largs businessman John Corrigan, who says he is 'delighted' to have found new tenants for the premises.
He has urged people living in the village to support the new venture.
