Fairlie will host “The Price Of A Fish Supper” by Scottish-based novelist and playwright, Catherine Czerkawska.

Set somewhere on the Ayrshire coast, the play explores the demise of the fishing industry as seen through the reminiscences of the central character, Rab.

His personal decline has paralleled the wider economy of the place where he lives and the coast from which he once worked. This one-man play, performed by Ken O'Hara, is at once tragic and funny, as he relates his riveting story of love, rivalry and disaster.

Having celebrated four sell-out shows in the Gaiety Studio, the play is now touring five Ayrshire venues, including Fairlie . Tickets for “”The Price Of A Fish Supper” at Fairlie Village Hall on 18 May at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm) are available from Fairlie Community Association, Tel 07958 048908; email fairliecommass@gmail.com or The Gaiety, Tel. 01292 288235 or from TheGaiety.co.uk. Prices £10 standard; £9 concession (age recommendation 16+ - contains strong language and scenes of an adult nature).

After the play, why not enjoy a fish supper! Order a “half-works” from The Fish Works at a cost of £5pp when booking tickets (if booking via The Gaiety, contact Fairlie CA to order fish suppers). Refreshments available – Fairlie Community Association will be serving “drinks for donations” during the evening.
