An archaeological investigation has been taking place at Hunterston bay to search for Roman piers and artefacts during the past month by Wessex University.
A team of archaeologists from their base in Edinburgh headed to the local area with their equipment to carry out searches during the low lying tide.
Jonathan Benjamin, Principal Investigator of the Samphire project, said: “We are taking advantage of the lowest tides of the month this week and our team is out investigating some of the maritime archaeology sites through a coastal survey. At this time of year, there are ultra low tides and we also flew over the area to examine the intertidal area."
