The next meeting of the Fairlie Safer Roads group is taking place on Wednesday 3 September in the Village Hall at 7pm.

Caroline Briggs, who is the steering group leader said: “Please come along and support this. We need the whole village to help keep the momentum up.” It is expected that there will be a report from Cunninghame North MSP Kenneth Gibson following his recent meeting with Fergusson’s Coal.

A spokesman for Fergusson Coal confirmed that the company had a productive meeting with the local MSP.

Mr Gibson believes the best opportunity of progress with the coal company is to co-operate, and has suggested that the community should engage in a Freight Quality Partnership (FQP) with the company.

At the last Fairlie Safer Roads group meeting, Cunninghame North MSP Kenneth Gibson vowed to relay Fairlie’s concerns at his meeting with Fergussons Coal, with hopes of setting up the lorry liaison partnership group. He also handed a petition from the village to Fergussons concerning safer roads in the area.
