The dilapidated state of Fairlie seafront path needs a new lease of life, says one local shore walker.

Grahame Ross, a former ‘News’ photographer, pictured the poor state of the walkway south of Bay Street, as consultations on a new path are about to get underway in the village.

Grahame said: “This seems to be where the proposed cycle/pedestrian path in Fairlie is to be built. I wonder if the new one will last longer than this one? I look forward to seeing the plans.” There is to be a public consultation on the new plans - starting on Friday 28 August and finishing on Friday 9 October - to give the public an opportunity to comment on the proposals.

The draft proposals were informed by the feedback obtained through the previous stage of consultation undertaken in 2014 and a number of meetings with stakeholders.

The consultation documents will be available during this period electronically on the council’s website and at a number of local facilities including Fairlie Library, Largs Library and West Kilbride Library. Details for all locations are available from the council’s website.

Feedback will be collated during the consultation period and will help inform the designs for the proposed path.
