Opening

The opening of the Community Centre has been delayed once again and the new Grand Opening will now take place at the end of November/beginning of December.

However the centre will be open for bookings from 31 October.

Traffic Disturbance

The work of installing sewage pipes meant that there was no entrance to Inverkip at the Greenock end with cars having to use the other exit. Traffic lights are in operation on Main Street and Langhouse Road.

Woman’s Institute

The meeting on 17th heard of what is entailed in the work of a Justice of the Peace. Jim Hair from Dalry spoke to the ladies on the Scottish Court system and all that entails. The former definition of “Breach of the Peace” caused some amusement with jugglers and night walkers being two offences.

A lot of those called to court do not turn up and many cases are for driving offences, use of mobile phones being on the increase with young people. There were light hearted moments and some serious ones and the ladies appreciated Jim giving up his time to visit them
