VULNERABLE MISSING WOMAN - INVERKIP

Police at Greenock are appealing to the public for their assistance in tracing a vulnerable woman missing from her home in Inverkip since the evening of Friday 28 October.

Margaret Fleming (36) was last seen at her home address by her two carers at 1820hrs on Friday 28 October. Margaret is described as around 5ft 5 inches in height, with collar length black hair and brown eyes. She is described as being of heavy build. When last seen, she was wearing a green coloured tartan fleece or jumper, dark coloured jeans or trousers, wearing 'Karrimor' type boots which were dark in colour. She also had a black handbag which looked like a satchel type.

Margaret is believed to have learning difficulties, and as time passes concern is growing for her welfare.

Chief Inspector Elliot Brown, Area Commander for Greenock, said today:

"Margaret is a young woman who is believed to have a degree of learning difficulties. She has never been missing before and given her vulnerability, we are very concerned for her safety.

"We understand from the limited information we have just now that Margaret has lived in the Port Glasgow and surrounding areas all her life, however, she may not know her way around the area.

"As we continue efforts to understand more about Margaret and possibly why she may have gone missing, we are asking anyone who may have seen a woman fitting her description in and around the area of Main Road, Inverkip at around 1820 hours on Friday 28 October. It is a rather remote location, with only a few houses nearby, however, as it's near a main road I am sure there will be passing motorists who may have seen her.

"We will continue with our searches around the area where she was last seen, as is normal with any missing person investigation. We are also trying to locate an image of Margaret to issue to the public to help with our enquiries. I would ask anyone who knows Margaret, and who might know where she might be, to contact police as soon as possible at Greenock via 101."
