Traffic Holdup.

On Tuesday 18th traffic on the A78 came to a standstill at Skelmorlie. The traffic was unable to get past a white van that had turned over on its side after colliding with the railings by Strathclyde House. There were a large number of lorries and work vehicles unable to pass and Police ended up being able to divert cars through Strathclyde House Car Park. It was a bit ironical that later in the morning workmen had arrived to replace railings just past the 30mph on the same road that were damaged some time ago,

Sleep Over

The local Cubs are having a Film Night at Inverkip Primary on 21st. They say that younger siblings from Beaver group can also attend. Sleeping bags and night clothes needed.

Inverkip Bowling Green

The opening of the bowling green at Inverkip was held on Sunday afternoon despite the horrible weather. It was with sadness that the members heard of the death of the Greenock President who was to have opened the event. His widow had given the go ahead despite her loss.

Temporary Fence Removed

The large metal fence that the Police erected at the bungalow “Seacroft” where they have been carrying out some searching has been removed. It appears that things are being wound down there although to date there is still a Police presence there.

Inverkip Church

Inverkip and Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay Church and St Patrick’s and St Joseph’s completed the Easter Week with Service on Sunday Morning. Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay held a Service on the beach at the Meigle and Inverkip held an early service outside the Church. Inverkip Church grounds now have bird boxes and boxes for insects on the trees around the Church.

Litter Pick

Inverkip folk are invited to join Rangers from Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park for a Litter Pick at Lunderston Bay on Saturday 29th April from 11am-1pm. The Easter break and good weather on Monday saw Lunderston Bay very busy as was the Cardwell Garden Centre.

Dog Walkers

It has been noticed that dog walkers are obeying the advice to clean up after their dogs but unfortunately that’s all they are doing because going by the number of used “Poo” bags on the roadside in Ardgowan Estate they can’t be bothered to carry the offending item to a bin.
