Inverkip and Wemyss Bay Notes

Sign of the Times

With the report of a bogus caller at a house in Inverkip which caused concern to residents it comes as no surprise that the flats on Main Street have had security doors fitted recently.

Playtime

With adults etc. concerned about the amount of time children are spending indoors it’s a shame that when they do play outside there are complaints about noise.

On the evening of Friday 19th many children took advantage of the good weather and were outside playing. However the community wardens were called out and approached the children whose ages ranged from 7 years to 11 years and some were upset by being questioned about where they lived etc.

This was the same day that someone posted pictures on Social Media of the Police Van waiting at Inverkip Station for the 6pm train; presumably they had information about youths on the train.

There were reports of vandalism and urinating on Station Road that week as well but no wardens called out there.

Community Council

The AGM of Inverkip and Wemyss Bay Community Council will take place on Thursday June 1 at 7pm in Wemyss Bay Primary School.
Office Bearers will be appointed at the meeting.
The AGM will be followed by the monthly business meeting of the community council.
Residents are encouraged to attend to find out about what is happening in the area.

Raising Money

Staff and friends of Inverkip Primary Head Teacher were taking part in the “Racing for Life” walk in Glasgow at the weekend in aid of Cancer Research. The folk were supporting Head teacher Diane Blyth who had returned to the School after treatment for Cancer. At the time of the walk £1,400 had been raised.

Wemyss Bay Gala

Reports and pictures show that the Gala Day at Wemyss Bay on Saturday 20th was a great success despite the heavy showers. The organisers are to be congratulated for their hard work and to those who supported the event.

Stolen Motorcycle

A garage was broken into in the car park behind flats on Main Street. A motor cycle 2012 model KTMEXC 300 was stolen.

Fairtrade Status

Inverkip Church has been given Fair Trade status by Fairtrade Foundation. This is due to the hard work that has been done by the eco team at the Church. There will be a stall at the Largs Agricultural Show on 10th June.
