A remarkable 11 year old girl is drumming up a lot of attention after she was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, and found a unique way of communication.
Grace Tedesci stopped talking to her parents when she was six, but she has since found drumming has provided her with a voice and now she’s now being tipped for stardom
The Inverkip schoolgirl began taking drumming lessons during the year she stopped talking.
Since then, she has not had a single conversation with her drumming teacher Lesley McLaren.
Lesley said “It’s easy really. She’s so enthusiastic and her facial expressions - I’ve become quite good at reading what she means if I ask her a question that doesn’t have a straightforward yes or no answer,.
Grace’s ‘mutism’ condition developed suddenly as she entered the second year of primary school.. Grace would like to play in a band and videos of Grace widely circulated on YouTube. Her teacher Lesley believes she clearly has a natural talent.
Grace still only speaks to certain people - including her parents and other children.
