A sum of almost £50,000 is up for grabs over the next few months from the Kelburn Windfarm Trust.
Chairman Drew Cochrane has announced that the 2017 allocation was being made available by the RES company which operates the windfarm on the Kelburn hills.
He said:"All of the money will continue to go to organisations and good causes in Largs, Fairlie and Cumbrae. We are open to applications."
A total of over £220,000 has been handed out to sports clubs, churches, community organisations and schools over the past five years, and the allocation has been increased for this year.
Applications should be made to the fund website at www. kelburnwindfarm.co.uk before April 30. The website also lists the large range of local groups which have been successful in obtaining grants which normally range from £500 to £5000.
Last year the Fairlie Gala Day received £3000 as did Haylie House and the Largs First Responders. Around £20,000 went to groups on Cumbrae.
In general, the fund supports local environmental, educational, amenity for other appropriate registered, not for profit organisations whose initiatives are consistent with the principles of environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, conservation and social sustainability projects within the communities.
