St Mary's Primary School were certainly hitting the high notes recently.

We are so proud of our school choir who achieved a distinction in their group in the Ayrshire Music festival - see photos.

P1-4/3 All classes have enjoyed getting their construction skills out to work collaboratively on drawbridge construction again. We have had some fantastic design solutions and are proud of our ability to work effectively as part of a team. We have also started to get ready for our STEM showcase by beginning to make medieval decorations; tabards, head ware, swords and shields. We enjoyed the opportunity to use our creativity with a range of materials and look forward to completing our creations!

P5 have been creating imaginative stories detailing what they think may have happened if another chapter had been added to the novel 'The Desperate Journey'. The children were very eager to write their own stories and have produced some excellent pieces of work. The "working buzz" in the classroom was phenomenal. What was even more outstanding was they way they applied previous learning in their writing too. Well done P5! They have also been mapping key places in Canada relating to their novel.

P6 have been learning about the harmful effects of smoking on the body. They are also enjoying creating and preparing their sponsored wacky race they are running to support our Lenten Charity.

P7 used what they have learned in their decision making topic to make quizzes and puzzles for their peers. Working in groups they used various sites to create cryptograms, crosswords, word searches, cloze procedures and more within a given time frame. A very enjoyable challenge! They have written about what decisions they would make if they were First Minister. Some very interesting bills will be passed in the future should any of this class go into politics!
