A well known Largs couple celebrated their golden anniversary with a celebration dinner at Largs Golf Club recently.
Both born in Glasgow, Drew and Jean Galt moved to Largs in their childhoods, and met through mutual friends in their teenage years.
Drew is well known and performs at the Largs Live music festival every year, and is good friends with Benny Gallagher and Graham Lyle of Gallagher and Lyle fame, and occasionally performs with them when they return to Largs.
Drew,72. started off wanting to be a singer, performing with Gallagher and Lyle, and to trade, is an electrician and was self employed with various different companies, including working in West Africa for a few years.
True love blossomed when Drew met Jean for the first time in the Argosy bar, which was to go on to become Dee Jays, and is now McAulays.

Jean, 76, worked in Nardini’s, and was also a home help and carer in Warren Park, and a carer going round different houses in Largs.
They have four grown up children in Melanie, Tina, Samantha and Warren, and grandchildren Angela, Jacalyn, Dale, Luke, Dawn, Chloe, Ben, Ella and Eve, with two great grandchildren Angela and Liam.
Drew and Jean live in Walkerston Avenue in Largs, where they have stayed for the past 40 years. Their first house together was in Haco Street, and then Holehouse Road.
Drew started singing when he was 13, and played in various local bands including The Blue Frets, Tulsins, and the Old Swingers in Town, and even has a couple of singles of his own, which were publicly released.
Daughter Melanie said: “They met in the Argosy pub where mum worked, which was later to become Dee Jays and McAuleys. Their secret to a long marriage is doing things together as a family. Dad says he’s Mr Right and mum is always Mrs Always Right.”
Drew’s brother David is also a well known member of the Largs Cronies circuit.
A golden wedding celebration with family and friends took place at the local golf club on Saturday 11 March.
