And the local man reached the semi-finals of a national padel tournament in Birmingham at the weekend.
David, who lives in Seamill, partnered John Byrne in the over-45s category of the event.
The duo, who both play at the Ayrshire Padel tennis courts at Stevenston Industrial Estate, lost the opening game 6-2, 6-2, but came roaring back in the second match to win 6-1, 6-1.
They won the quarter-final by a similar scoreline, before going down in the semis 1-6, 7-6, and losing 10-6 in the tie-breaker.
A number of Largs, Fairlie and West Kilbride players take part in the Ayrshire Padel rankings including David McCulloch, Andrew Boyle, Crawford Boyd, Malcolm McAulay, Lewis McAulay, Claudio Nardini, Alistair Green, Brian Corrigan, and Calum Corral.
