Thought for the Week
by Richard Walker – retired Anglican clergyman
Largs Churches Together would be pleased to welcome you to the final simple lunch of this Lent next Wednesday 5 April from noon in Clark Memorial Church Hall. All the money raised will go to Christian Aid which will help some of the poorest people on earth.
This Lent I have been encouraging us to think about our lives and how we can fit them in more with God’s hopes. These are my final suggestions for this month: Drive less and walk, cycle or go by public transport more, buy Fairtrade vegetables and fruit such as bananas. switch your electricity and gas supplier to one with a renewable energy tariff such as Good Energy, Bulb or ecotricity. donate regularly to Christian Aid or Oxfam, attend a worship service at a local church this Easter.
Buy some things regularly from Traidcraft. There is a stall at the Fencebay Farmers’ Market on the last Sunday of each month, give your children or grandchildren yourself and your time rather than things or money. Reduce waste. Reuse. Recycle things.
Enjoy the world remembering that it was created by God and belongs to him.
Could you do some of these? Let us all think how we can align our lives with God’s hopes of us.
