Green-fingered plant lovers are encouraged to attend a special event in the town happening next week.
The annual garden advice workshop and Plant Sale of Largs & District Horticultural Society is being held on Wednesday May 10 at 7.30pm in St John’s TocH Hall, Bath Street, Largs.
The evening will start with a hands-on demonstration of propagation and growing on by our President, Ian Taylor. It is a great opportunity for all to come along and meet the members; ask questions about growing and showing; pick up some hints and tips; find out about the flower show and exhibiting in it.
There will be a selection of plants, grown by our members, such as tomatoes, sweet peas, etc for sale.
Come along and join in. There is no admission fee and you don’t have to be a member to attend.
Advance schedules are available at the Library for the Decorative, Hobbies & Crafts and Junior sections. Should you wish many further details on the workshop, Flower Show or Society please contact the Secretary on 01475 689423.
The Horticultural Society was founded in around 1840, with the first competition/show being held in 1841. It was formed originally by the professional gardeners who worked in the various large houses in the area, and last year celebrated its 175th anniversary.
