STEAM will live again in Ayrshire's Doon Valley on Sunday, May 28 and Monday, May 29.

Visitors to the Scottish Industrial Railway Centre will be able to get a steam hauled hurl in a brake van, see various locomotives, items of rolling stock, visit the museum display, shop and cafe.

There is an additional treat in store for visitors on the Sunday as the operators plan to demonstrate their Fireless loco. This vehicle has no fire of its own but takes a charge of steam from another source. It is the only working fireless locomotive in the UK.

This vehIcle is an Ayrshire pedigree. It was built in Kilmarnock and spent its working life in Ardrossan.

The centre is based at Dunaskin, near Ayr and is open from 11am to 4.30pm with steam trips available every Sunday until the end of August.

The centre is operated by the unpaid volunteers of the Ayrshire Railway Preservation Group.
