Watch out for Largs Academy taking over and cleaning up the town later this month as part of their Activities week project.

S1 pupils will be participating in a Community Day on Monday 22 May. The pupils would like to acknowledge the support of the local community and give something back by volunteering in a range of activities.

Some of the exciting things we are planning to offer include a beach clean-up, a litter pick and clean-up of the local parks. We’ll be tidying the gardens of our local care homes, as well as treating the residents to musical performances and busking on the streets. Some pupils will be helping the Rangers at Kelburn Country Centre and others will run a car wash for our local Emergency Services.

The pupils in the photographs decided to get their cleaning materials at the ready!

Speaking to the 'News' Faculty leader Alan Sturrock said: "To show our appreciation for all that our community does for us, the school intend to give something back by volunteering in a arrange of activities for the duration of the school day on Monday 22 May.

"In line with our school values and Curriculum for Excellence, the Academy feel this day is a fantastic opportunity for all S1 pupils to develop skills in leadership and team work, demonstrate that they are responsible citizens and to show their immense gratitude and respect for our community."
