OIR

The Largs OIR held a very successful Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 7 June. The following committee members were re-elected: Chairman - Jean Stuart, Treasurer Eric Niven, Membership Secretary - Allen Fenton, Secretary - Shirley Strang, Group Liaison Officer- Robert Pattie, committee member - Joan Robinson Janette Fulton. Two new members were welcomed onto the committee. They are Agnes Kennedy and Teresa Burns.

St Mary's Gala

St Mary's Primary School Parent Council are holding a Summer Gala Day at the school on Saturday July 17. Bouncy castles, face painting, games, craft tables, toy stall and much more! Everyone welcome.

Concert

Songs from the Shows" will be performed by local students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in the Dunn Memorial Hall, St. John's Church on Friday June 23 at 7.30pm. Tickets priced £8 are available from Largs Printing Co, 120 Main St., (entrance from M&Co Car Park) members of the congregation and Jim Welsh telephone Largs 674714. Any unsold tickets will be available on the evening.

Summer Fete

The 1st Largs Boys Brigade will be holding a "Summer Fete" on Saturday June 24 in Clark Memorial Church Hall and grounds. There will be a tearoom, various stalls and in the grounds there will a barbecue, Beat the Goalie, Hook-a-Duck, Tombola and various other games . The fete will be from 10am-12.30pm and all proceeds will go toward our new minibus appeal, all are welcome to come along and support us and any donations of baking, tombola etc can be handed in at the hall on either the evening before or on the morning or to Captain's house. All donations will be gratefully received.

Carers Week

There are a number of events this week for Carers Week and Christina Larsen, as NAC Carers' Champion will be attending these events. On Friday June 16 the North Coast & Cumbrae Carers Event takes place at Brisbane Hotel in Largs from 11.30am-12.30pm.

Sporting memories

The Celebrating Memories Group held every month at Largs Masonic Lodge. This informal group has developed into an event for people with dementia and their carer. Discussions are formed around gentle image based fun quizzes on a range of subjects including sport, movies, television and music. Their next meeting is on Thursday June 29 from 3pm to 5pm.

Coffee Morning

The Holiday Club coffee morning will take place on Saturday June 24 from 10am-12 noon at St. Columba's Scottish Episcopal church, Aubery Crescent. You can register your child for the popular holiday club which will be held on Monday 3rd to 7th July 10-12.

Concert

The Glasgow Phoenix Choir with the Oban Gaelic Choir. St Columba’s Parish Church Sunday June 18 at 2.30pm (doors open 2pm). Tickets Priced £10 available from the St Columba’s Parish Church Heritage Centre any day noon until 4pm or the Best Fruit Company 10 Tron Place Largs. Do not miss Scotland's top choir supported by one of Scotlands favourite Gaelic choirs.

Open Day

Halkshill Bowling Club in Largs are to launch a major drive to introduce young people to the game. Tied in to a big Family Day at the Wilson Street club on Saturday, June 24 Halkshill will set up all sorts of bowling games as part of the attractions. With free entry, there will be a barbecue, bouncy castle, music, target bowls and chance to try lawn bowls. The event runs from 10am-5pm.

Inner Wheel

The monthly meeting of The Inner Wheel Largs will take place at The Willowbank Hotel on Tuesday June 20 at 7pm. This will be the Annual General Meeting. All are welcome. If you are interested in joining please contact Caroline Berwick on 01475 673696 or 07787115346.

Age Concern

The winning entries of the Age Concern Prize Draw held in the AD Cameron Centre, Lade Street, Largs on Monday June 5 were as follows :- £6 Elizabeth Blair, £5 James Crawford, £4 Norman Chinnock, £3 Jean Kennedy. The vouchers can be used in Morrisons Supermarket.

Dates to note :- Monday June 19, The Exercise Class at 10.30 am and The Art Group at 1pm. Wednesday June 21 the Film Club are having a film show at 1pm. Thursday June 22 The Knit and Knatter Group meets at 1.30 pm. Friday June 23, The Scrabble Group meets at 1.45pm. The bus for the visit to The Royal Yacht and Edinburgh Tour is now full .

The centre remains open throughout the summer from 10 am till 4 pm Monday to Friday for tea and coffee etc.
