Brother and sister, Ewan and Emily Carmichael have joined forces to encourage the Ayrshire community to donate their old round £1 coins to the Ayrshire Hospice, before the old-style coins lose their legal tender status on 15 October 2017.

Ron Swanson, Assistant Fundraising Manager at the Ayrshire Hospice said “We’ve been delighted to have the support of Ewan and Emily to encourage people to donate their old £1 coins. It costs around £20,000 per day to run all of our hospice services so any donations received will be truly appreciated. The support of the Ayrshire community is never taken for granted and we have branded donation boxes that we can offer to supporters to help them collect their coins and raise money for the hospice.”

Tracy Carmichael, mum to Ewan and Emily said “As a family, we’re delighted to support a fantastic local charity like Ayrshire Hospice. Ewan, 11, and Emily, 9, hope that their support will encourage people to support the hospice in this generous way and collect lots and lots of pound coins for charity!”
