Largs goes Live with 127 gigs in just 54 hours!
LARGS LIVE 2017 is back, bigger and better than ever, with a FREE weekend of music and entertainment for the whole family from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th June.
‘T’ By The Sea…
…For the first time, Explore Largs BID, the organiser of the event, is delighted to announce that Scotland’s favourite pint, Tennent’s Lager, is sponsoring LARGS LIVE 2017.
The sponsorship will help to ensure that Largs is rocking across the weekend, when thousands of music lovers visit this iconic West Coast tourist town to enjoy an astonishing 127 gigs in just 54 hours.
There’s something for everyone from bands and street entertainment to kid’s shows and face-painting spread out over 20 venues across the iconic seaside town.
This year’s street entertainment offers more than ever, with some fantastic new acts, whether your preference is folk, rock, ceilidh, pop or traditional Scottish Largs Live has it all.
The Skunnered return after their hugely popular street gigs last year to bring their folk/rock sound to the stage in Tron Place; with four live shows on both Saturday and Sunday at 12.45, 13.45, 14.45 and 15.45.
Another outdoor venue, right in the centre of town, outside TSB in Largs Main Street, features the ceilidh band Celtic Soundz on the Saturday at 13.15, 14.15, 15.15 and 16.15 and Artistic Licence, a pop and rock group on the Sunday. Again, this band will perform at the same time slots.
Street Opera…
…After a successful debut last year, street opera returns for 2017 with students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, who will be performing four 30 minute stets at Largs Pier Head on both the Saturday and Sunday at 13.00, 14.00, 15.00 and 16.00.
Morrisons supermarket will be joining in too, when they host the Millport Pipe Band between 12.00 and 16.00 on Sunday 25th June.
Children’s entertainment…
…Largs’ favourites, The McDougall’s, are back with two completely different shows for the children. On Saturday it’s ‘Creature and Critters’ at 1.00pm, 2.00pm, 3.00pm and 4.00pm, why not being your little ones along dressed as animals to join in with the musical monkey business.
And on the Sunday their show entitled ‘Time Travel’, has performances at 1.00pm, 2.00pm, 300pm and 4.00pm, with kids of all ages encouraged to dress up as explorers! Their shows on Saturday and Sunday, will all be staged at The Brisbane Centre in Bath Street.
Free Face-painting…
…The Face-painting Fairies will be joining the McDougall’s at the Brisbane Centre between 1pm and 4pm on both days as they perform some magical make-up transformations.
