Largs gymnastics youngsters are heading to Disneyland in Paris to take part in a prestigious gymnastics competition.

Specsavers in Largs is helping the youngsters take to the stage at the international event.

The Aitken Street store is donating £200 to the Largs Gymnastics Display Team to help the sports stars take part in the Gymnastique Magique contest at Disneyland Paris in October.

The money will cover the cost of some training kit, which will help the young people look the part when they’re competing.

The Largs Gymnastics Display Team coaches youngsters aged 10 to 25 from across North Ayrshire and beyond.

Some of the youngsters who will be taking part in the contest popped into the store to thank staff for their kind donation.

Display team coach Colette Atkins says: ‘We would like to say a big thank you to everyone at Specsavers in Largs for the donation.

‘This is the first time we’ve registered for the competition. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the girls and we’re all very excited about taking part.’

Specsavers Largs store director Chris Leatham says: ‘We’re very proud to be sponsoring the Largs Gymnastics Display Team and it’s an honour to be supporting the young sports stars as they take part in Gymnastique Magique.

‘Gymnastics is a sport that involves incredible precision, so good eyesight is vital. It’s so important that all youngsters – not only those who take part in sport – have their eyes tested regularly.

‘We wish the team all the best in the competition.’
