Reports surfaced in social media of two dead rats in a pond, and even a litter bin having been lobbed in, and during the same weekend a fire broke out in one of the bins near the shelter area, and caused damage internally and externally.
Sergeant Alex Marshall and her team at Largs Police are looking into the matter.
The senior fire office in attendance was unable to confirm whether it had been a wilful act. However, it is the latest in a number of problems to have been highlighted in the area this past year.
Police stepped up patrols in Douglas Park after concerns were raised by Largs Community Council at the turn of the year in relation to youth disorder in the area.
