A consultation is now underway concerning Largs Post Office moving to a new location in town.

As recently reported, the owners, Susan and David Craddock, have put in a planning application for the vacant premises in Gallowgate Lane, which was formerly the SNP shop to host a P.O and a cafe.

Kenny Lamont, Post Office Area Manager said: “Partners and agents who operate post office branches provide services alongside their private retail business and it is important that they make the very best use of their resources to ensure future sustainability of both their business and the Post Office service.

"The current operator of Largs Post Office has identified an opportunity to move the branch into a brighter, more modern premises, located in a central location which is 300 metres from the current site at 58 Main Street, Largs, KA30 8AL."

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.

Should the move go ahead, the branch would open from 8:30am – 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am to 4pm on Saturday. This would offer 53 hours of Post Office service every week.

Kenny added: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this relocated new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”

During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal. The consultation will close on 31 October. Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the Customer Helpline on 03457 22 33 44 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.
