A campaigning charity is urging Largs and Millport residents who are deaf or have hearing loss to complete a survey about their experiences of accessing hospital, health centre and GP services.

Action on Hearing Loss Scotland has produced a short questionnaire to gather information about whether individual communication needs were met when people who are deaf or have hearing loss tried to book or attend health appointments during the last 12 months.

Under the Equality Act 2010, deaf or hard of hearing people have the right to expect reasonable adjustments to ensure that medical information and services are fully accessible.

Largs and Millport residents are invited to complete the survey online at www.actiononhearingloss.org.uk/access or email: scotland@hearingloss.org.uk or call telephone: 07388 227407 to request a paper copy.

A British Sign Language (BSL) version can be taken by clicking ‘complete the survey’ at: www.actiononhearingloss.org.uk/access

Delia Henry, Director of Action on Hearing Loss Scotland, said: “We want to find out about how well health services are meeting the communications needs of people in Largs and Millport who are deaf or have hearing loss and also where there could be room for improvement."
