P1 This week Primary 1 have been learning the technique of tie-dyeing and using this technique to create some wonderful pieces of work. They have been using personal dictionaries and word banks to support Hallowe’en story writing.

P2 have been learning about connectives and trying to use them in their writing. This term our topic will be space and we have been predicting and learning which of the Sun, Moon and Starts make their own light. In Maths we have been improving our mental addition using ‘friendly numbers’.

P3 have been using witches as inspiration for writing imaginative character descriptions. In Maths we have been revising our number bonds to 20 to support our learning of addition and subtraction or mental maths. We have also been learning about different saints including Saint Theresa.

P5/4 are looking forward to Hallowe’en. We are getting in the mood by creating Spooky Houses in art. We have also been listening to scary classical music to get us in the mood while writing atmospheric settings featuring Haunted Houses!

P6 are excited to be starting our new science topic – Electricity. This topic ties into our Victorian’s work as Faraday was an electrical pioneer. The children are enjoying designing and building circuits.

P7 presented the Harvest Festival with a Fairtrade theme to the whole school and invited guests. Despite some nerves it was very successful in getting across the message of Fairtrade and the celebration of Harvest.

All classes attend Mass in school to celebrate ‘All Saints Day’. Each class is preparing a French song for our French celebration which takes place next week.
