Largs is to host its first ever Comic Con at Vikingar! on Saturday March 10.
The events which promote comic books and culture, sci-fi and superheros, are hugely popular around the world, and recently, have been hosting events in various towns with an event taking place in Kilmarnock this month.
A comic book convention or comic con is an event with a primary focus on comic books and comic book culture, in which comic book fans gather to meet creators, experts, and each other.
They sometimes host activities and panels, with a larger number of attendees participating in ‘cosplay’ - dressing up as their favourite comic book heroes.
Comic book conventions can also encompass a large range of pop culture and entertainment elements across virtually all genres, including horror, animation, anime, manga, toys, collectible card games, video games, webcomics, and fantasy novels.
A local comic book source told the ‘News’: “They did a Comic Con in Loch Lomond a few weeks back as well, and got some crazy number of thousands of visitors.”
The event in Kilmarnock on Saturday November 18 at The Grand Hall and Dick Institute will give a flavour of what Largs can expect, and it includes special guests Alan Grant, Al Ewing, David Baillie, Tom Foster, Grado and Rony Bridges.
Barrfields Theatre is also hosting a new Comedy Club which is due to start in January 19 2018.
