Ho ho ho! Santa Claus is a very happy chappie as he returns to residence at the Vikingar in the weekends leading up to Christmas.

That is because an excellent grotto has been set up within the leisure complex in Greenock Road, Largs, thanks to efforts from local volunteers.

Lesley McCormack who was the brainchild behind the idea said: "The area for Santa's Grotto was kindly given to us by KA Leisure last year, and people have kept asking about it returning, so we are delighted that we are bringing it back - all we ask for a £3 donation to cover the cost of the children's gifts. It is all volunteers who are involved and we all do it for the children."

And when Santa's new home at Vikingar! opened last year, it received great acclaim from good boys and girls of all ages. Elizabeth Blair said: " It's so lovely and has a Scandinavian feel to it. It is well worth a visit."

The grotto is open over the following weekends: 2-3 December, 9-10 December, 16-17 December, on Saturdays 11am-4pm and Sundays 12-4.
