P1 have been listening to and reading Fairy Tales. They have been re-telling these tales in their own words and sequencing events from within these stories. The children have enjoyed learning and singing the hymn ‘Joy in my Heart.’ P 1 have been sorting coins, learning the value of each coin and using the coins to make different amounts. We have been talking about the ‘Rights of the Child’. Some of the P 1 children have taken part in our after school club ‘Introduction to BSL’.

P2 have been identifying and describing the features of 2D shapes. They will be creating their own Chinese Dragons and describing the shapes used in a peer’s work.

Then we will be moving onto 3D shape. We have also been investigating shadows and how the position of the sun affects the size of these.

P3 have started work related to our ‘Toys’ topic and have been exploring the nets of 3D shapes. As part of anti-bullying week the children were discussing what it is to be a good friend.

P4 have been learning about symmetry this week and have had fun recognising and creating symmetrical patterns. We have also learned about one of Scotland’s Patron Saints ‘St Margaret of Scotland’ – her feast day is 16th November.

P5/4 have been learning all about bullying this week. We’ve used our knowledge to create drama scenes and comic strips where we’ve shown different forms of bullying and given advice about how to deal with bullying.

P6 have been discussing what respect looks like and sounds like as part of our anti- bullying activities this week. The children thought about what respect means to them and shared examples of when they were respected and how important that felt to them.

P7 had a transition visit to St Matthew’s where they took part in STEM activities and got to meet and interact with other P7s from our cluster. They also took part in

Anti-bullying week learning what respect looks like and sounds like.

P6 and P7 had a very interesting talk from Constable Pollard and Constable Philip. They explained the dangers of substance abuse and the impact they can have on you, your family and your community. The children also learned about the dangers of taking prescription drugs incorrectly and what illegal drugs can look like. They also discussed the consequences of being caught in possession of illegal substances.
