North Ayrshire Council are waiting for better weather for Aubery pond to be fully restored.
After a thorough investigation in the autumn, council workmen discovered that the seals at the base of the pond were leaking and needing to be replaced.
Discussions then took place with various contractors, North Ayrshire Council told us in November.
However, we are now into January, and the popular tourism spot still remains without its main water feature.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “Works started before the Christmas/New Year break and are continuing.
“The joints to the base of the pond have been cut out in preparation for the sealant to be applied. A test application of sealant shall be carried out as soon as weather permits.”
The popular pond feature built in Largs in 1963 by Largs Town Council, and Provost Herbert Acheson, provided a popular boating pond for children for many years.
In recent years, it has been regularly used by Largs Model Boat Club for various displays throughout the year.
