A well respected community safety volunteer on the RNLI is hanging up his lifejacket after 18 years.
David Wisdish is well known within the Largs Lifeboat fraternity, local community and yachting circles, having served as a valued sea safety volunteer.
David originally from Nottingham and an active yachtsman joined the RNLI when in 1999 the organisation began to focus on preventing incidents to reduce the demand on the lifeboat crews, and has passed on his knowledge and wealth of experience to boating enthusiasts.
His RNLI role covered presenting safety advice to a wide variety of boat and sailing clubs; also he went into schools to make students aware of the enjoyment and dangers of water activities. Another part of his work was giving talks to adult organisations on the work of the RNLI.
David is looking forward to his retirement, and sharing more time sailing the Clyde and west coast with his wife Jean, and said that everyday is a learning day in all walks of life and has learned a lot from listening to people rather than talking to them.
Largs Lifeboat spokesman Alasdair Woods said: "David's input will be missed and all at RNLI wish him and Jean "Bon Voyage!"
