A road accident has taken place on the A78 between Largs and Skelmorlie.
Police are currently attending the scene.
Traffic Scotland have stated that the road is expected to be closed for 60 minutes.
Stagecoach have also warned their customers of delays to the 585 bus service.
At 2.57pm, a spokesperson for Traffic Scotland said: "Reports of a RTC restricting the road and causing queuing traffic. Police on route."
And at 3.07pm, Traffic Scotland added: "All lanes restricted in both directions for up to 60 minutes."
Stagecoach have stated: "Due to A78 road between Largs to Skelmorlie being closed due to RTC the 585 will terminate at Largs until further notice."
And at 4.10pm, Stagecoach tweeted: "The A78 between Largs and Skelmorlie still closed we have currently three buses stuck and the 585 is terminating at Largs on route to Greenock we have put 2 duplicate buses on at the moment to try and minimise disruption - updates will follow."
