Scottish Conservative leader Annabel M Goldie MSP, a regional member for the West of Scotland, has written to the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change regarding the repairs to reconstruct Largs Pier.
There are concerns that the Paddle Steamer Waverley, which has operated excursions on the Clyde, every summer for past 35 years, will be unable to berth at Largs pier due to incomplete works.
Annabel Goldie MSP, a regional member for the West of Scotland, has written to the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change regarding the repairs to reconstruct Largs Pier.
Concerns have been raised about the effect this will have on Largs during the busy summer period.
Annabel Goldie MSP said: 'I have written to the Minister to raise concerns regarding the delayed work on Largs Pier.
"I know that the Waverley"s passengers, many from Largs and wider North Ayrshire, are very keen to get aboard and enjoy the journey and they too wish the Pier finished quickly, so that they are able to do just that.
"I am informed that Waverley Excursions Limited had fears that the Pier would be unusable during the summer months and therefore had asked for the work to be completed outwith the summer months to prevent disruption to the sailing of PS Waverley and disruption to their passengers. It is to be hoped that CMAL can finish the work as quickly as possible.
"I know that as soon as the Pier is complete, passengers will return to support the much loved and iconic Paddle Steamer.
"In this year of 'Homecoming' of all years, we want Waverley to play her full role.
"I understand that Waverley Excursions are working on a solution to ensure that the public will not be disappointed and that everyone wishing to take a trip aboard Waverley will be able to do so."
