A total of 39 extremely tired staff and pupils returned to these shores on Sunday 18th October after a wonderful trip to Costa Rica. Mr Cunningham reports that transport arrangements were great and the food was edible.

Rice and beans for breakfast anyone? Naturally, both the scenery and wildlife were stupendous but, more to the point, the pupils, your children, were simply magnificent. We were continually asked by staff in planes and in hotels where we were from, who we were and complemented on the wonderful party that we had to look after.

Everyone had a fabulous time and within a few hours of arriving, we had seen vultures, sloths and crocodiles. We are reliably informed that a few sloths in the party too were unused to early morning starts, such as the 4.30am rise on the last day!

The first day of the trip saw the group take a 7am boat trip around the waterways spotting howler and white-faced capuchin monkeys in the surrounding forests.

Another highlight of the trip included National Guides taking the group to a beach on the Caribbean coast at Tortuguero where watching Atlantic Sea turtles laying their eggs in the sand at eleven o'clock in the evening was just one of the many memories of the trip that the group will cherish forever.

Our intrepid travellers went from the interior of the country to the Caribbean coast and back to the interior via the rain and cloud forest, and finished with some relaxation at Manuel Antonio National Park beach on the Pacific coast where, according to Mr. Cunningham, a cheeky raccoon was spotted trying to steal their sandwiches. Simply unforgettable!
