The new traffic management plan in Largs will be completed after positive talks were held between Transport Scotland and North Ayrshire Council.
The plan to help the traffic flow has been saved after an urgent summit took place between both North Ayrshire Council and Transport Scotland.
We reported last week how a late spanner was thrown into the works as the long awaited traffic management plan was about to start but Amey. who maintain the A78, raised concerns over design elements of the plan at the eleventh hour.
SNP Councillor Alan Hill was critical of Amey's involvement in the late objections after a long consultation process lasting some three years which had finally been agreed upon in the summer of 2008.
This week, Transport Scotland and North Ayrshire Council issued a joint statement: "Both parties had a very constructive meeting on Friday 22 January to discuss the design of the traffic management improvements on the A78 trunk road in Largs, and the scheme remains on course to be implemented this financial year."
