Uninspired tosh!
Town councillors, NAC councillors, Largs Initiative - all these self-purported champions of Largs and not a solitary positive idea between them in the last decade.
It enrages me to live in such a wonderful town and be represented by these inept wastrels.
If you think for a moment that I'm out of line, answer this simple question "List half a dozen significant achievements in the last three years say" - Oh, FYI, the twining certainly wouldn't qualify... On you go, start listing - you can let me know when the skiing season begins in Hell, ok?
How in the name of the wee man can a town with such natural advantage benefit so little from same?
If any of you, largely unelected, "representatives" think for one minute that you're doing anything other than a very poor job then clearly you are not listening to the people of this town. For those of you who claim to be elected by democratic process of the vox pop - unqualified democracy is not democracy - if you solely have two to three candidates - each worse than the other - the only thing guaranteed is that a total buffoon will be elected (QED). We need qualified democracy in this town - if not in this country. People should not be elected simply because they want to be elected (even groucho marx knew this) - this is fundamentally what we have here. Who voted for Alex Gallagher? Who enthusiastically voted for either of the Marshalls for example? When you put your X in that box - in the case of only one of the above - did you have visions of the Berlin Wall coming down; the end of apartheid etc? NO, you didn't. You voted based on what was woefully there or along party lines. Now reflect on the folly of your action.
So, I'll leave you with some incredibly relevant levity...
A guy named Ian applies for a job as a handy man. During the interview he's asked "are you good with electrics?" He replies "Hopeless, never go near the stuff." "Any good with joinery?" "Even worse, I couldn't put a nail through a piece of wet paper." "You're more of a painter/decorator then?" "Allergic to most paints and I have a fear of heights." The exacerbated employer finally asks "Ian, why on earth did you apply for this job as a handy man???" Ian replies "I just live round the corner."
BOOM! BOOM!
Oh the irony and the banter.

Interesting contribution from Largoid. Significant achievements in Largs? How about the new Super Play Park and the skateboard area at the sea front - there's two. How about the new sea defence wall? That's another. Considerable investment at Largs Academy is four. The Largs - Fairlie Cycle path is five. Town twinning is definitely in my six with its opportunities for cultural and educational development and even tourism. How about youth development when 24 young Largoids participated last year in the Twin Town Challenge Games in Andernos?
How many 'significant achievements' is that? I've lost count!!

I tend to agree with Largoid, well at least the part about democracy and in my humble opinion the twinning lark, is just that, a lark. Ask the average person in Largs and they will be hard put to know Andernos Les Bains and where it is.
Lets have some people that have no party line other than wanting to make Largs the pryde of the Clyde once again.

I checked out the Andernos-les-Bains website. The promenade looks beautiful. Stunning in fact. As does the whole town.
Any chance our councillors could have a word with NAC to improve our seafront. That would be a great achievment as just now it's one awful eyesore. Pitted, holes, patched - in fact if it was a floor surface in a workplace Health and Safety would surely close it down fearing accidents.
Maybe being twinned to such a well looked after town isn't such a bad idea - as long as our officials take note and come back inspired - for the good of Largs. Please.
