Back in 2008, NAC agreed to support plans for a new community centre with a £1 million funding boost following the private sale of Moorburn Council Chambers.

If the asking price for the Stevenson Institute site is in the order of £125,000 then why can the Largs Common Good Fund not buy it now? The Common Good Fund has sufficient funds available on its Capital Account for this, and at present this only earns a low rate of interest on these funds.

If NAC does not have the money to develop the site this year, then the CGF could buy the site and sit on it until NAC has the funds available.

In that way the site will not be lost due to inertia from NAC. The Trustees of the CGF (all of the NAC Councillors) should explore this option to make sure that this opportunity for Largs to have a modern community centre is not lost.
