Clyde Coastguard have confirmed that they investigated reports concerning an incident between two fishing boats in Largs bay which happened last month.
They say the matter has now been resolved by the parties involved and information was handed over to the police. The 'News' understands one of the two fisherman involved was believed to be from Millport.
A concerned member of the public recently e-mailed the 'News' about the incident. He said: "Are you aware of the "fishing boat Wars"? On a Friday at the end of June, a fishing boat "shot" its nets across the bows of another fishing and both skippers went into "red mist" mode ending up with the larger of the two boats towing the other vessel all over the river and would not stop, we're talking hours here, not just a few minutes.
"In the end the police had to call out the pilot boat to take them out to the craft in an attempt to resolve the situation. Haven't heard the outcome yet but there is serious unrest amongst the fishermen, and there is concern that someone will get hurt."
A spokesman for Clyde Coastguard said that there was a recorded incident on the day but the matter was 'resolved by both parties' and the police had been informed of the situation.
