A Largs mother has dashed to Mexico after her son suffered terrible injuries in a horror crash as the family battled for urgent treatment which helped save his life.
Carolyn Dollin has rushed to the other side of the world to fight for better treatment for son Brian, and consequently was moved to a better equipped hospital in Mexico City.
The family have been carrying out a bedside vigil but have even been refused access by the hospital on occasions as they campaigned for improved medical help.
The injured 25 year old teacher, whose three friends died in the crash, has come out of a coma after suffering serious internal injuries, including a cut to his liver, and required urgent treatment which the hospital in San Juan did not offer.
He had been teaching English in Mexico for the past eleven months when injured as a bus on the wrong side of the road smashed into his car.
Family friend Billie Walker of Skelmorlie said: "The family are hoping Brian will come out of intenstive care over the next few days."
