Can you identify mystery insect?
It's a bug's life? Madeline Driver of Largs is appealing for help from readers after this interesting discovery. She said: I wondered if you could put a picture in the paper of this flying insect. I spotted and managed to photograph in my garden on Saturday 21 July. I have looked up books on bugs and tried the intenet but with no luck. Perhaps someone else in Largs has seen a similar bug in their garden. It was over an inch long not including feelers and tail. I would be very interested to here from anyone who might know what it is. Can you help? If so, email us on editorial@largsnews.co.uk or contact the 'News' desk on 01294 607514.

Report commentIs it a type of wood wasp? The tail doesn't look quite long enough in the photo though . . .
