The first call out for Largs RNLI on 2013 was earlier than expected.. it was at 7.21pm in the evening of New Year's Day.
A request to launch Largs lifeboat came through to a report of a middle aged couple from Rothesay who had set out on a walk round the Island of Bute had found themselves near the south end of the island stranded on rocks some twenty feet below the pathway above them.
The couple had set out on the local round the Island walk from Rothesay, they were approaching Garroch Head near the south of the island when the accident happened.
