The famous Green Shutters Restaurant and Café in Largs has changed hands in a deal brokered by industry experts Smith & Clough Business Associates.

The well known local eaterie, which is said to have been trading for over 100 years, enjoys a stunning seafront position on the promenade.

The Green Shutters, which has recently been refurbished, provides seating for 50 customers internally, and can also accommodate a further 68 customers in the front terrace area, overlooking the sea.

The business had been owned and operated for the last few years by Claudio and Aldo Nardini, two cousins from the famous business family who were selling to concentrate on other business ventures. They continue to operate The Moorings Cafe at the pier.

The Fort Street premises has been bought by Thomas Buskie, who resides in Ayrshire and has an extensive catering background. He will look to continue running the business along the same lines as before, which has proved successful.

Jonathan Clough, Director of Smith & Clough Business Associates who was handling the sale on behalf of the Nardinis commented: “It was a pleasure to be involved in the sale of such a well-known and much-loved Largs institution. "As expected, we received high levels of interest in the sale, with the Green Shutters offering not only a fantastic lifestyle, but a tremendous business opportunity at the same time. I would just like to take this opportunity to wish Thomas every success for the future with the new venture which I’m sure it will continue to be as successful as ever.” The Green Shutters was sold from an asking price of offers over £95,000 for the leasehold going concern.
