AN SNP activist has accused a local Labour councillor of double standards over the council tax freeze.
Mr Craig Wilson responded to Largs Councillor Alex Gallagher's complaints about the continuing freeze.
In a letter to the Largs & Millport Weekly News Mr Wilson stated: "It is very often difficult to keep abreast of what Alex Gallagher believes from one week to the next. However, in last week’s ‘News’ he was very clearly attacking the Council Tax freeze – presumably suggesting a return to the bad old days of regular Labour imposed hikes.
"Of course, it was only a few short years ago that Alex Gallagher, pictured here, could be seen proudly on the front cover of local Labour leaflets which trumpeted a policy of freezing the Council Tax for two years in order to “help with household bills and the cost of living”.
Mr Wilson added: "If a freeze up until last year would have helped those on lower incomes make ends meet, what, can he tell us, has changed now?
Furthermore, how exactly would increasing the Council Tax help those on lower incomes…?" The full statement and page of views in the 'News.'
